Visit to a cardiac catheterization laboratory

by | 29.11.2022 | News

📌 | Our colleague Anja had the opportunity to spend a day in the cardiac catheterization laboratory of the Diakoneo Diak Klinikum in Schwäbisch Hall (Krankenhaus Schwäbisch Hall | Diakoneo). In the two cardiac catheterization laboratories of Internal Medicine I, patients with diseases in the fields of cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology and angiology are treated. The Cardiac Cath Lab is a typical implementation for our electromagnetic tracking system Aurora. By electromagnetically tracking the position of the catheters in the heart, X-ray exposure can be reduced, and the precision of the procedure increased.

During her visit, Anja accompanied a three-and-a-half-hour catheter ablation for the treatment of a ventricular tachycardia. The visit was a great opportunity to experience the operation of our technology in the clinical environment and to see the challenges the hospital staff face in their work. Such a visit is impressive. It bridges the gap from our day-to-day business to the final application and helps us to better understand the requirements we need to meet when developing new products and improving existing ones.
